Allen Gant 2012 Michigan commit exclusive coverage 9/9/11 Sylvania Southview vs Toledo Start

Game of the week

On Friday Sept 9th 2011 the staff of Everything Michigan and More traveled to Toledo Start to get exclusive footage of 2012 Michigan commit Allen Gant. After a very long fought game the undefeated Southview Cougars came up short and was upset by the Toledo Spartans 28-22.

After speaking with Allen's father at half time I was informed that Allen suffered from a hip pointer! In Mr. Gant's opinion Allen should not have played. Playing through injury seems to be a great quality that Allen has and I am sure that will carry with him to the next level at Michigan. I am hoping that Allen can get back to 100% this week so he can help the Cougars get back to there winning ways. Even though Sylvania lost a very close game to the Spartans of Toledo there were many positives to take away from this game. Senior Rylee Neill #33 was flying around the field once again and made several tackles and an interception. I was also very impressed with the play of #47 Jay Fisher. Jay had a solid game while having tons of support from his friends and family in the stands. It was very hard to keep the camera still sitting close to Jay's fan base!

The upset bid began early as the Spartans' Chris Towns took the opening kickoff and returned it 93 yards for a quick 7-0 lead.
While Southview (2-1) responded with a 3-yard score by Jay Fisher, the Spartans reached the end zone three more times to extend their lead to 28-6.
Chris Jones scored on a 45-yard run and finished with 110 yards rushing. Tyler Ritter added two TDs, connecting with Tyrell Jones on a four-yard pass and tallying on a seven-yard TD.
The Cougars tried to mount a rally as Austin Valdez threw touchdown passes of 22 and 32 yards to J.Q. Bowers, but the Spartans (1-2) were able to hold on for their first win of the season. Please enjoy our exclusive footage and GO BLUE!

Game of the week Southview vs Toledo Start Michigan commit Allan Gant Friday

The staff from Everything Michigan and More will be traveling this Friday to Toledo Start high school to get you the viewers some excellent footage of Michigan Commit Allen Gant. The staff will be getting additional footage of a senior from Allen's team Rylee Neill. Rylee plays Linebacker/Tackle on defense and fullback on offense and has not committed anywhere but is raising a few eyebrows as of late . Word on the street is Rylee was incredible force on defense! Last week he laid some bone crushing blocks as fullback. Week 2 he was player of the week with 11 tackles, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery while playing linebacker. Rylee also holds "ALL" of the schools weight lifting records. We have been excited to watch his progress over the past 4 years. Rylee would like to play football at the next level at Arizona State University.

If you want to see the best footage of Michigan recruits and prospects stay tuned to Everything Michigan and More for the best coverage of these young stars.

                                                               Week 1 Preview

Sylvania Southview vs Toledo St. Francis  * Michigan commit Allen Gant plays for Southview

Southview was coming off a 15-0 Division II state title season in August of 2009 when coach Jim Mayzes' Cougars opened at the Glass Bowl against a St. Francis squad that had gone 5-5 in 2008.
The Knights surprised many with a 27-8 win over Southview, launching a memorable 11-2 season. It was the final campaign for 26-year Knights coach Dick Cromwell, the City League's all-time wins leader. Cromwell was 208-85-1 at St. Francis and 251-119-2 in 34 seasons overall.
Last season, Southview turned the tables at the Glass Bowl, rallying to a 36-22 win, spoiling the debut of Knights coach Mike Blochowski. It was the first victory of the Cougars' second 10-0 regular season in three years.

The Knights feature five third-year starters on their offensive line, including a tight end -- a quintet that averages 6-3 and 271 pounds.
St. Francis is one of five former CL teams which have moved to the new Three Rivers Athletic Conference.

"It's become a rivalry real quick," Blochowski said of facing Southview. "It's a natural because we have so many kids [at St. Francis] from the Sylvania area and they have friends at Southview. They want to do well against each other because it's for bragging rights. The last two years, the team that won went on to have an outstanding season."

Toledo Whitmer vs Toledo Start    *Michigan commit Chris Wormley plays for Whitmer

Whitmer (12-2) -- which won its second straight City League title last year before falling 23-13 in a state semifinal loss to eventual Division I champion Lakewood St. Edward -- closed the 2010 regular season with a 33-7 win over Tremainsville Road rival Start.
Coach Joe Palka's Panthers, preseason favorites in the new TRAC, will open at home Friday against Start, now in a non-league setting.

Just a side note I am an ex-Panther and this Whitmer/Start game has always been huge because both schools are so close to each other. I am also friends with Chris on Facebook and the Start players have been talking alot of smack for months. I look for Chris to have a huge game to shut them up! Go Panthers

Chris Wormley vs Allen Gant face off in Scrimmage!

Tonight some of the staff from Everything Michigan and More (Matt Freeman,Jeff Matthews,Tim McGrady and Jason Gromnicki) had the pleasure of watching a great match up between two Michigan commits. Chris Wormley and Allen Gant! Both faced off for the first time this season at Whitmer's Memorial stadium in Toledo, Ohio at 6pm. Both teams seemed to be a little sluggish but that is to be expected in your first scrimmage of the year. I was informed the starters only played around 20 plays. This I'm sure was the decision of the coach to limit the injury factor. It appeared to me that Chris Wormley had more action in this scrimmage than Allen. Toledo Whitmer has a much deeper bench than Sylvania Southview. Because of that you did get to see more playing time from others on the Whitmer side. Sylvania seemed to play the same line up most of the night minus key players like Allen Gant.

Outside of the two great players heading to Michigan, another player stood out! Sylvania Southviews sophmore #81 Nate Hall. This kid has to be one of the best sophomores I have ever seen. Mark my words a great future waits ahead for this kid. I hope Michigan takes a look at this prospect.I have added a little footage of Nate in the video because he impressed me so much!

Because both commits did not see much playing time I did my best to capture some of the highlights of the scrimmage. I also added a little footage of Sylvania Southviews star LB and School weightlifting record holder Sr. Rylee Neil! He has been a starter for 3 years at Sylvania Southview. Rylee is a great kid with a positive attitude maybe that is why he is so successful on the field? Rylee is a master at making tackles on defense. He and Allen Gant are a great force together and fun to watch. This was an added bonus for our viewers! I hope you enjoy the video?
