Terrelle Pryor Is Drafted By the Oakland Raiders.

ESPN has just reported that Terrelle Pryor was drafted by the Oakland Raiders as the 18th pick in the 3rd round of the supplemental draft.

Though he is unlikely to receive significant playing time, this is still a major step both for Pryor and Ohio State. Now that he has a place in the NFL, at least for the conceivable future, there will be much less pressure on him from fans, the media, and the university.

He seems to be a great fit for the Raiders (I think we all know the reason) and Michigan fans can only hope he avoids anymore trouble. Surely he may prove to be more of a gain for Michigan than he ever was for Ohio State, especially considering a huge portion of his playing time has already been voided.

NFL 2011 NFL Supplemental Draft today!

With all the news lately on "ohio's" QB Terrelle Pryor I thought I would give everyone an update on his status. Today the 2011 NFL Supplemental Draft will take place. The 2011 supplemental draft was originally scheduled for August 17th but was postponed and it is now scheduled to take place on Monday, August 22nd at 1:00 PM.
 

Update: The #Raiders have chosen Terrelle Pryor in the third round of the #NFL Supplemental Draft, and will forfeit their third rounder next April. No one else was taken!




Here are the players eligible for this year's supplemental draft:

The draft order is set by way of a weighted system that divides the league's teams into three groups:  A) teams with fewer than six wins; B) non-playoff teams with more than six wins; and then C) the playoff teams.
Teams from Group A are then weighted, with the team with the worst record having a weighted advantage over the team with the second-worst record, which has a weighted advantage over the team with the third-worst record, and on down the line. Using the weighted system, teams are chosen from within Group A and put in draft order.
The process is repeated for Groups B and C, as well.

While the order has not yet been determined, here are the teams in each group:

Terrelle Pryor eligible for Monday’s supplemental draft

Terrelle Pryor is eligible for Monday's supplemental draft the other shocking announcement from the NFL on Thursday is that Pryor’s five-game suspension will carry over to the NFL this season. So whichever team drafts him — and you have to figure someone will — won’t be able to use him for the first five weeks of the schedule. Ohio State May Face Further NCAA Charges

Today, in a report from ESPN, the broadcasting network posted that Ohio State will be receiving another set of allegations against Ohio State's football program in the coming weeks. This comes as a surprise since just a few days ago the NCAA stated that Ohio State would avoid the most serious rule infractions.

Some of the new information that has surfaced includes things such as thousands of dollars worth of merchandise being sold by players, free games of golf, and special auto deals specifically designed for players.

The NCAA's current allegations against Ohio State are primarily linked to Jim Tressel and the previous coaching staff. If the new allegations contain things such as the infamous "failure to monitor" allegation, Ohio State could face much stiff penalties. This is because the "failure to monitor" allegation implies that the entire athletic department and school is to blame for the rule violation.

Typically, if a school is found guilty of the "failure to monitor" charge, there are stiff penalties for the program and entire athletic department. For example, USC received this rule infraction recently and was forced to accept scholarship reductions, a postseason ban, and the vacation of a NCAA championship. However, USC's violations were linked to the entire athletic department. If new allegations against Ohio State continue to focus solely on Tressel and the coaching staff, Ohio State may get off much lighter on its penalties.

This can be seen in the NCAA investigation regarding Tennessee. Instead of placing blame on the university, the NCAA opted to blame Lane Kiffin (head coach at the time) and the coaching staff for recruiting violations. Though Tennessee still had to incure some punishments and the tarnishment of its reputation, the penalties would likely have been much worse if the NCAA had accused the university itself of a "failure to monitor."

If ESPN's reports are accurate and the NCAA is primed to add new allegations to Ohio State including a "failure to monitor" charge, there could be serious penalties including scholarship cuts and bowl bans. If these types of penalties surface, the Ohio State football program will take a major step back. Recruiting will take a significant hit (there's already much speculation that a bowl ban will spur several high profile recruits from Ohio State to Michigan), Ohio State will have fewer scholarship players on the field, and be incapable playing in nationally viewed bowl games.

There has been some speculation that this sudden "change of heart" by the NCAA was driven by Terrelle Pryor's testimony, but I'm hesitant to believe these rumors. Pryor may be in tough waters to be eligible for the NFL Supplemental Draft, but assuming he's trying to cough up information that will directly harm his college team may be a little too speculative. Over time we have clearly seen that Pryor has some questionable standards, but as of now, these rumors are, well, just rumors.

What we do know is that the NCAA investigation is continuing and seems very likely to be headed for new allegations against Ohio State. Whether the NCAA will postpone Ohio State's appearance before the Committee On Infractions is also still uncertain, but I think it's safe to assume that whatever allegations will reach fruition by the end of the 2011 season.

More Drama for OSU coming!!!!!!

97.1 in Columbus is saying more bad news is coming tomorrow for the Buckeyes. I have heard that S.I. is doing a follow up story on OSU. It seems that George Dohrmann  the last sportswriter to win the Pulitzer Prize had alot more info then what was published in the last article. I am guessing that info will be released and more. If it is what I have been hearing then this will be a back breaking event. Twitter is on fire with all kinds of rumors. Here is a little Follow up!!!! Before Pryor was a Buckeye!!!Talbott hosted Pryor, Posey and other Buckeyes for golf at a private countryclub. Multiple times. 2008. Manager of CC thought it was "odd" and called Jim T'ressel's office, but neither Tressel nor compliance followed up. Columbus show  97.1 the Fan also reported that S.I. is in Town again working on a new story it appears.

Terrelle Pryor turning down CFL offer

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- IT looks like the Saskatchewan Roughriders have acquired the negotiating rights to Terrelle Pryor and have spoken to Pryor's lawyer Larry James about bringing the former Ohio State quarterback to the Canadian Football League.

Roughriders general manager Brendan Taman told The Associated Press on Wednesday that the team owned Pryor's CFL negotiation rights and was very interested in the 6-foot-6, 233-pound quarterback. Roughriders general manager Brendan Taman said that Pryor is a heck of an athlete and the only thing that concerned him was his passing ability. The off the field problems at Ohio State did not concern him when asked. Pryor's attorney Larry James said he did not talk with Pryor about his CFL options yet but would do so in the coming week.

This is an update to my previous blog above. James said the offer from the CFL "was not sufficient to whet Pryor's taste buds." Pryor will focus on entering the NFL supplemental draft. And believes OSU will provide the letter necessary to join.

Antonio Henton recruited heavily by Ohio State, Henton was a three-star quarterback looking to make a splash at the next level.  He wowed the coaches as a freshman, but the team opted to redshirt him to allow for future growth. 2007 rolled around, it was time for Henton to vie for the starting role.  Instead, he was found on the wrong side of a sexual solicitation arrest. The charges were dismissed but Henton was still suspended by the team. The following June, Henton opted to head back home where he would transfer to Georgia Southern. Wow Twitter seems to breaking alot of news Lately!! And so much for the Sacred Brotherhood it looks like its every man for himself in Columbus.

Pryor is gone is he the scapegoat?

Now that Terrelle Pryor is severing his ties with THEE Ohio State University, Is he the fall guy in this whole thing? Are people going to let Ex-Coach Jim Tressel off the hook? Is he going to be blamed for the whole thing, even though the Coach and other players as far back as 2002 were doing the same thing? There are more questions by his leaving then answers we can give. Pryor is not at all innocent here. He broke way to many rules that we know he knew about. He flaunted this by driving cars after this story broke.

I would almost feel bad for TP, if he was not such an Arrogant fool. He is just a product of the system he played in. 70 other OSU players have had names tied in with some wrong doing. Why is it that the only one the OSU fans, the School, and the media only bring him up. Why not bring up the rest. In the 90s a YSU QB under Tressel got a Car and 100,000 dollars from a booster, but Tressel supposedly didn't know about that. Just like he supposedly didn't know about the tattos, the weed, the cars at OSU. TP or Toilet Paper as many friends call him, didn't do anything that Tressel hasn't let happen before. I mean even with in OSU's storied program, Maurice Clarett who Tressel claimed to have spent a lot of time with, got busted for taking money from boosters and other things. OSU did a investigation, and it was said, Tressel didn't know. I mean how can a coach not know that his star players like Clarett, Pryor, Dan Herron, Mike Adams, ect. You get the picture.

The one thing that is constant at OSU, Coaches getting let go for bad behavior. Woody for punching an opposing player, Tressel for Cheating, Cooper for having the gall to run a clean football program, but losing to Michigan, and Bruce got fired for not winning enough like Woody.


So who's to blame here THEE Ohio State Univerity? Jim Tressel? Terrelle Pryor? Gordon Gee? OSU Fans? The AD of OSU? The NCAA? the only clear answer is, how long until the next OSU coach is forced out.

Pryor Leaving OSU?

Is this the end of Terrelle Pryor at OSU? Is his mentor out of touch with his lawyer? Did anyone really believe he wasn't going to leave after the OSU fans turned on him? The Tressel era is taking a beating. With the promises that the suspended players were going to stay at THEE Ohio State University, another lie is tumbling. Pryors Lawyer says he will be leaving. Pryor leaves most likely to try his hand at the Supplemental NFL draft. This was expected by many people. Stay tuned for further updates.
