Recruiting Update on DB's

Charles Woodson one of the best DB's

Recent recruiting rumors have the Michigan coaches contacting a few defensive backs. Massachusetts CB Armani Reeves is one of those. According to Rivals.com Reeves is rated the #2 overall prospect in the state of Mass. and #16 CB in the class of 2012. This morning Reeves gave his verbal commitment to Penn State. Why is this news you ask? Because it was assumed that after Akron safety Jarrod Wilson gave his verbal commitment, UM was finished recruiting defensive backs. As it turns out that's not true. I have heard with the one of the remaining scholarships coaches are looking at possibly bringing in another elite lock down CB to go along with Anthony Standifer and Terry Richardson. In my opinion there are 2 reasons for this. The first being that the coaches have an opportunity to bring a ultra athletic player with NFL type cover skills. This is not to say that Standifer and Richardson don't have those skills but its to increase the competition level and make everyone better. The coaches have said that they aren't going to recruit someone to be a body and waste a scholarship. The other reason is because Richardson has said that he wants to take his visits to other schools. No one can be 100% sure what the real reason is except the coaches. So with Reeves off the market now I have heard two other names mentioned, 4 star CB Yuri Wright of Ramsey NJ and Wayne Morgan. Yes the same person that almost committed to UM a couple months ago. With the limited amount of scholarships left for the 2012 class it's going to be interesting watching how recruiting plays out.
